"The storyline has its moments, but after Cataclysm's strange, daring waters, Homeworld 2's
scavenger-hunt plotline feels for most of its length like an almost spitefully conventional rehash,
top-heavy with extra-galactic ancient races that no longer exist except as convenient plot
devices. (The whole thing's an anthropomorphized riff on David Brin's Uplift novels)."
Sorry, no link to the review, I typed the above quote in from the print magazine. The rest of
the review doesn't really say any more about any similarities there may be, or give any further
details on the game's plot.
As background: "Cataclysm" is the name of the previous entry in the Homeworld game series,
which is basically a real-time strategy game with 3D space combat of large and varied space
fleets.
Has anyone here played this game? I'm curious what elements parallel the Uplift universe...
I played the original Homeworld game, and the story there didn't have anything of that nature
that I recall...
