On another list that I'm on, there have been several incidents recently where someone (or perhaps more than one someone) using an assumed name has been deliberately copying portions of messages and forwarding them out of context in an attempt to get the original poster in trouble. In one case, an offhand remark intended as humor� made about two years ago by one poster which was forwarded to his bosses by this snitch caused the person to be recently fired from the position he held for the past 35 years, with about two years to go before retirement. The message below is an attempt -- in addition to the message from the list owner (an attorney) that all messages posted to the list are automatically copyrighted and are not to be forwarded without permission to remind whoever is doing this -- to remind whoever is doing this that what he is doing is illegal.
Unless anyone here is thinking of doing anything like that, don't worry about it. I added it to my default .sig so it appears on all my messages, but will get it straightened out soon. Everyone over there is still (understandably) upset over what has happened, so we are probably all overreacting just a bit right now.
