I immediately thought that it might be Lander debris, but the close-up shows that it has definitely been there for a while. Another observation, in the larger image, the rock and the object both look like they were recently moved. The dust around the rock and the object has sharp breaks instead of the wind worn dusty look. Compare the dust around the large rock with the dust surrounding the smaller rocks. Very interesting.
