Yea, well, as far as I'm concerned, imminent is a subset of immediate anyway so it's really a Clintonian "I didn't have sex" kind way of trying to get around responsibility for what was said. He and all the others from the administration told America that conquering Iraq was essential for winning the war on terror when in fact it really wasn't very important at all to take Sadam out.

A sad thing is, it really is important to take Saddam out. And if they'd cast it in those terms, they would not be phumphering around now or pretending to ignore all the serious questions of where the WMD are. But they disdained nation-building because, really, they didn't feel they needed to justify anything. They wanted to do it, that was for them justification enough.

The problem is, they thought they didn't need the rest of the world, and now they do. And their insistence that the WMD will still be found is keeping the rest of the world from helping out.

Saddam was a monster. I'm glad he's gone. But - now what? They could take Saddam out on their own, but they can't do anything else their without help. Help they can't get because they can't admit they were wrong about the WMD.
