I can't imagine, really, mostly because I haven't read the article, and I haven't read the article because, well, look what my mailreader did to the URL, and I don't feel like cutting and pasting right now.
If I did, I'd probably also go to tinyurl.com to create a tiny URL and then provide the produced link, which would be short enough to *not* have that problem in pretty much any mail program.
Or the original could have been surrounded by double angle brackets, i.e. <<link>>, which also keeps it together and "clickable" in most e-mail programs.
