Hey, man, I know we have some primo bud now, but next time you
light up a big one, think about all those paleolithic proto-farmers,
man. Those dudes probably started with such worthless weed that
they had to throw big bundles of it onto like campfires, man! And
then stand over the fire with skins on their heads to like catch
the smoke. They probably did this for HOURS before they got a
buzz, man!

Seriously, it does take a long period of selection before useful
cultivars are produced. I don't know about hemp, but I've heard
there is evidence that tobacco was being actively selected for
potency around ten thousand years ago.
