Yeh I have to agree with you there about the whole set up, you cant do
anything unless it returns the universe back to its original set up.

"go April"

Read "best destiny" a few months ago.. never really was a big ST:TOS
fan.. just kidding, rather enjoyed the book.

The whole bit of the RW was never to occur in the ST:E franchise, it was
surmised that this would be a leader into the Romulan wars. Based on
time lines it ST:E takes place at such a point that nearly 15yrs or more
would have to transpire till the beginning of the Wars.

This series is doing the "founding" of the federation, and you can see
the founding of it starting to form. Archer did mediate talks between
the Vulcans and the Andorians. Showing earth in its future role as
capital of the federation.

For the introduction of another alien species, well I see it like this.
>From its onset complaints were made about the use of "future" tech
compared to TOS. ie. LCD monitors...Phase pistols. It was argued that
because of the existence of the current technology in the early 21st
century it would make sense for the LCD screens to be used. As for the
phase pistols, wasn't it said in "best destiny" that they were using
"laser" pistols? I know that for the time that they also used particle
weapons in a time prior to ST:E. and based on time frames it would make
it more believable for them to be using "particle" weapons not phase
pistols and such?

Oh god I'm starting to ramble TIME FOR SLEEP
