I haven't minded the NYT registration and at least I have a method to get permanent links to stories with them.
This is not to say that the Pravda on the Hudson has good reporters. It is the opposite of the WSJ, the Gray Lady has many poor reporters but some excellent editorial staff. The WSJ has many excellent reporters but the editorial department consists of animals you try to keep locked up in the attic and toss in some red meat once a day.
