I had always seen it the other way around, and admired how US parties allow more dissent within their ranks, but as a result have less discipline (ie weak) vs England/Australia etc, where its a pretty damn rare thing for people to cross the floor to vote against party lines (ie strong). And thats not a judgemental thing, I am just wondering what your definition of the words was. Andrew
