Well, it doesn't take Hollywood to explain this. How about just some old fashioned election year Wrath of God for what Florida did to the world four years ago, and a warning not to cheat in favor of thieving morons once again?
It's abundantly clear to me that Claytherine Harris will figure out how to rig things a second time. I'm just wondering when Dub's skin will start changing patterns.
Or else... at the opposite but still politically relevant intellectual extremum... see it as Florida paying a penalty for Global Warming, a problem the Republicans long claimed not to exist. (In Earth I portray both FLA and parts of Texas/Louisiana nearly gone.)
Don't forget all the hot air from generations of disaffected Cubans, still angry that their illegally-got gains were taken from them illegally.
It looks like I will be the speaker on October 1, 2004 in Sproul Plaza for commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Mario Savio's rant atop a police car, which started the famed "Berkeley Free Speech Movement"!
Cool and weird to be chosen. But hey, we need to defend it. Always.
Not weird, methinks. SF is one of the great bastions of free speech. Where else, in what other genre, can a reader explore other societies, see how lives could be made better -- or worse -- by putatively simple choices?
Congrats on the address!

"Egalitarianism" does NOT mean "Rule by the least common denominator". --
PS: I'm inclined more toward comeuppance than tragic coincidence, but that's because I want the universe to be fair, in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
