There actually are quite a lot of people in Midwestern States like Ohio,
Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin who are very pro-life, not particularly crazy
about the idea of gay marriage, and concerned about the coarsening of our
public culture and the removal of God from our civil discourse.
In fact, that is precisely the phenomenon we are seeing today. In 1988,
Michael Dukakis was reduced to the hard-core Democratic States of the time
- MA, RI, DC, NY, HI, WA, and OR, - along with WV, IA, MN, and WI.
Today, those last few are now the *battlegrounds*.... why? Largely
because of the "culture war" Pat Buchanan recognized was occurring during
the 1990's.
