If Joe Lieberman had been the nominee, I would have
quit my job to work for him. In all seriousness, I
think it's not hard to figure out why:
1) The Republican Party is stuck with the person it
nominated in 2000 when I still think that he was the
better-qualified of the two candidates to be President
(don't get me wrong, I _love_ John McCain, I just
think he's tempermentally unsuited to the Presidency)
2) In my opinion, the Democratic Party went stark,
staring, raving nuts in 2000 and has gotten worse ever
since. There was an opinion poll of the delegates at
the convention that said something like most of them
don't think of dealing with terrorism as a high
priority. An example. Terry McAuliffe is the head of
the DNC - a very, very important person in the party,
chosen by the party to represent and lead it. Let's
ignore the fact that he's ludicrously corrupt. But he
has publicly stated his belief that we invaded
Afghanistan after 9/11 because we wanted an oil
pipeline there (inspired by Fahrenheit 9/11, of
course). This is insane. Now, I don't think
McAuliffe brushes his teeth in the morning without
thinking through how he can get more votes. And he
was somehow so out to lunch that he thought that was a
comment that could win supporters for the Democratic
Party. I'm not even saying he honestly believes that
(as far as I can tell, McAuliffe doesn't honestly
believe _anything_). And this guy is the head of the
Democratic National Committee. What the hell? I
mean, really, what the hell? The oldest and greatest
political party in the world has people like this
moron running it?

The rest of the country looks at these people and
thinks "Put these people in charge of national
security and kiss your ass goodbye"
