Good question Dan. A clue is the 50% figure. It has to be very broad. e.g. those people hypnotized into believing that stupid obstinacy and monomania are the same thing as "strong leadership".
For all of my vaunted belief in the People,this is a genuine cult mentality, in the face of clear evidence that these guys are monsters. As for the groups you mention, I really don't mind NASCAR.
