I just finished this most excellent book yesterday and look forward to reading the second half of the story soon.
I just got started on this yesterday. So far I'm enjoying it quite a lot. I have the next two (_The Phoenix Exultant_ and _The Golden Transcendence_) on the shelf so I can carry straight on if I feel like it...
So far it reminds me a bit of Wil McCarthy's _The Collapsium_ and sequels (more the sequels actually) which are also stirring stories of super science. Was I pissed to get to the end of _Lost in Transmission_ to find a cliffhanger and the next part not due until 2005...
