I talked a little while ago to a friend of mine who I think is Kerry's biggest local fundraiser. He's on the DNC's legal team (he's a real estate developer, but also an attorney) to deal with election day issues, which assigned him to Tucson, NM. He told me that as of 5 p.m., they had an unheard-of 86 percent voter turnout -- and he was still looking at a long line. As I spoke to him, I was waiting well over an hour to vote here in Santa Clara, which is about 45 minutes longer than I ever have before.

My lawyer friend says he's not hearing of any significant legal issues coming up yet. I hope it stays that way.

And as you might guess, he thinks a huge voter turnout will be good for Kerry.

Nick
