You bet. That's the most ideal way to go.

I don't know that anyone is specifically requesting a pro-gay marriage law; however the laws that were enacted in 11 states say something to this effect: "Marriage is defined as being one man to one woman." Thus by fighting these amendments, GLBT groups are trying to ensure that marriage is open to be defined freely in ways you've suggested.


Why should polygamists be excluded?

Polygamy was specifically outlawed as a way of persecuting the Mormons. (!)
