The 3rd act of a Brin book often goes over the top (for lack of a better term), both in terms of the action and in exploring the ramifications of the "what-if" element central to the story, not necessarily just immortality. For example, _The_Practice_Effect_, _The_Life_Eaters_, and _Glory_Season_ all explore surprising depths of their story's what-if premise, often going in unexpected directions. That they manage somehow to keep from flying apart at the seams while still closing the plot is what has me addicted. -- Matt _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
