Based on observations of Pokemon being played by 2 of my 5 younger sisters,
and them telling me that Yu-Gi-Oh is a lot like Pokemon, I would imagine
that Yu-Gi-Oh is similar to the Star Wars card game, as Pokemon and Star
Wars seem to be based on the same basic template.
I had actually taken that into hand a few years back but the project stalled. It's still something I'd like to push ahead on. (It needs a little tweaking in a few places.)
I'm and have been a Magic player, myself. Magic was the original CCG/TCG. Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon use similar templates; the Magic design is considerably less structured, which makes the game a hell of a lot more interesting.
Think of it as D&D for people who don't want to deal with DMs or stacks of paperwork to keep a character alive. (Though you do tend to accrue stacks of cards. My trading stock is thousands of cards deep, and I don't have a very large collection.) Info at <http://www.wizards.com/magic/>
