I agree.
What I find most notable about the story is the poor light it shed on the instructor.
Someone who is supposed to be training young minds appeared to be
completely oblivious to the presence of very creative thinker. Even if
the kid was not doing so hot in his studies the power of his mind should
have been obvious to a responsible "teacher". If I were in that
instructors position I would be quite proud to have the opportunity to
cultivate such a talented young mind.
When the teacher is ready, the student will appear.
