Nick, if you think that the author was "endorsing" what you describe, then
you completely missed the point of the article.   Dan beat me to the punch
here, but the author's point is that Republicans now control both house of
Congress, have won the last two Presidential elections (despite perceived
factors favoring the Democrats both times),  control a majority of
Governorships and State Legislatures, and arguably have  narrow majority on
the Supreme court.
