The total number of items being sold may be up.
The total number of people selling is certainly way up.
The number of people selling as a sole source of income is way
down.

Actually, no. Or it depends upon the definition of making a living.
I've seen a lot of married couples where one buys and sells on 
eBay as a good second or third income. I haven't seen anyone
making it as a sole income.
 
I probably live in the wrong part of the country.
 
Or maybe nobody really makes it nowadays on a sole income.
 
Pass out the Tytlalka-seltzer tablets so I can get back to some 
serious nonsense.
