Let me answer the questions I saw. 1) Holocene is supposed to be client friendly and platform independent. Users should only need a browser. I've accessed it from all over using Mac, PCs, Netscape and Explorer. Flash capability is essential. It is only recently that people have tried using Mozilla and Firefox. If those browsers have problems, we should find out why. 2) No NDA is needed. Either we'll get the patent in a few months or we won't. If we do, we plan to be 'soft" Ip owners. Encouraging open source style creativity while holding onto a core business. 3) There are many tweaks and innovations that could make the present version work better. For example, the agent engine that empowers very rapid server performance is due for an upgrade soon that will allow Holocene to run as a much more convenient "service". We hope to have that up in a few months. (So it's not true that we have stopped improving it.) SOme needed improvements (desired especially by Mark Burgess) would make it clearer who is trying to talk to whom. (We already have one method of attention-getting.) That will require serious programmer time. Other improvements we hope to stimulate with open source methods, perhaps offering equity "prizes". For example, the creation of flash-based "kiosks" that offer visitors services... if any of you know any Flash geniuses who might like to fiddle with such things, we'd certainly be happy to talk to them. The main thing, though, is to offer you all a chat space for a weekly gathering that might be fun, different, and unique. Any experience people gained by actually using Holocene would be valuable, along with comments-suggestions. And yes, a weekly chat would give us a great place to invite outsiders to come and watch Holocene in action. Below is the list of those I already see interested. Anyone else?
