IIRC, anabolic steroids increase both muscle bulk and
strength, but have such adverse effects on other body
systems that they currently are not good for
astronauts (or 'most anybody else); IGFs do not work
in isolation on muscular tissue, so whatever
side/other effects they have will need to be mild if
this approach is to work.  Certainly it's worth
looking into further.

As for your statements about needing to use the body
on something besides stationary-type machines, I
believe I'll take your most excellent advice -- and go
for a good long ride!   ;}
