This is one of those questions you get to work out for yourself.

Joseph Campbell was fond of the phrase "follow your bliss" -- sound adevice, I suppose, but it implies knowing what your bliss is...

"A Peeling Poster On a Forgotten Wall"

We are droll dark soothing smothers
encased in tombs of sunlight,
listening for far distorted fanfare catcalls - small substitute for love.
Testaments and talismans of our sewage literature.
Its all philosophical glib humor;
the shelves need a cleaning.

Too tired to care.

We're wasting our misery with remorse shrugged
- a table for one tonight, tomorrow night, every night.

A chill spot in thinking, as laying in bed
we drift - unto sleep? Not us.
To another dawn away, where no higher journey
or faded smile can reach.

A peeling poster on a forgotten wall;
shut off from everyone.
