I would think that would apply to normal signage usage - not necessary for other communication. There may be formal, or ornamental fonts where possible mistaken communication is not a big issue and artistic or other consideration could override it. The big deal is that I'm working with Sah'ot's poetry holocube. The more unique it is, the better it works as a plot device to get him home.
