This from Russ Daggatt who lives in Washington State:

"The decision was just rendered in the challenge by Washington State Republicans to the outcome of the state's most recent gubernatorial election. Judge Bridges (a Republican judge from one of the most Republican counties in the state, hand-picked by state Republicans to hear this election challenge) rejected decisively every element of the Republican's case. He didn't leave them even a slender thread on which to hang their election (or PR) challenge. He rejected their arguments both by the "clear and convincing" standard of evidence and by the less strict "preponderance of the evidence" standard. To add insult to justice, he even gave Governor Gregoire 4 more votes!

To the extent the Republican party wanted to use this case, even if they lost, to undermine the legitimacy of Governor Gregoire's election, Judge Bridges gave them absolutely no support. To the contrary, he made it absolutely clear that the Republican challenge was wholly without merit. And he did so in a manner that is virtually impossible to overturn on appeal, as he offered alternative rulings on every legal ruling of consequence.

This one is OVER. The Republican party's attempt to overturn in court the decision of the voters (as they did in Bush v. Gore) has failed."
