How's this:
If you commit a crime that doesn't have anything to do with your job,
then yes, I can see that.
But if you commit a crime on the job, you darn well deserve to lose it.
Especially if it's a crime against another human being.
I imagine that a lot of white-collar crimes would cause your employer to
want to be rid of you anyway; something like this, if done in the
private sector, would raise the sort of liability issues that would make
firing justifiable, IMO.
