It's people who have been burning fuel in the crawl. The state is
sending in tanker trucks of fuel for those who are out of gas on
the highways. (I-45 and I-10 were the two roads I know about --
several trucks were sent from Austin to Fayette County earlier
today.)
I realized that, but it's still amazing that folks don't try going
down the street a bit to see if there is a less obvious gas station.
Yeah.
What's weird here tonight is that certain gas stations are being hit
hard, while others aren't. And it's not necessarily the ones I would
expect that are being hit hard, is the thing. (Of course, I didn't go
past Dell HQ to see how the gas stations along that road were being
utilized -- but if I had, I wouldn't know about the other two stations,
one of which I'm really scratching my head over.)
If you get a chance to read this, Rob, I wish you all the best
during the next few days....and thanks for your good wishes. I
was going to offer to let you stay here before I read you had a
place to go. We might have wind damage, but that should be it.
When we had 20-40 inches of rain over 3 days back in '94, we were
high and dry. We expect only about 2-10 inches, unless the storm
stops further south than they are predicting. I think we'll be
OK until the rainfall is up to 40 inches in 3 days.
Good luck, and I hope the wind doesn't get you badly.
The latest forecast is for winds to get up to the '50s.
That's better than the original prediction for Austin (as of Tuesday)
IIRC. :)
The hippo on the front porch isn't going anywhere. If it does, all
the front windows of the house will have blown out already.)
Two questions,
Did Dan really gain that much weight since I saw him last? :-)
Why won't he go in the house?
Dan isn't a hippo. Never went to school in Hutto. ;)
Oh, and our relatives near Sugarland are opting to ride it out. I
hope they know what they're doing. (If they change their minds in
the next 18 hours, we have space for them, but after that, any of
our friends contacting us get to use the space.)
Sugarland's forecast is up to around 60, so sheltering in place
would seem reasonable to me....as long as the hurricane doesn't go
left of it's predicted path.
Yes. Their plan on Tuesday was to head out today. Their plan today was
to ride it out, based on the current forecast.
I just hope all my friends with houseguests survive their visits. :)
