Pro-labor Republicans, led by Ohio Rep. Steven LaTourette, and in
concert with Democrats, seem to have convinced the President that his
suspension of prevailing wage laws in the Gulf coast was not such a
good idea, leading to a promise to reinstate the law as early as
November 8:

"The credit goes to anybody and everybody who understood this was bad
