That's a fair point, Bryon, and one I recall bugging me a little at the time. There's always been a little too much "nobler than thou" in Star Trek, though, so I imagine it was, to some extent, just honoring that tradition. But in any case I had really enjoyed the entire pilot up to that point, and was willing to give them a some rope.
