Rather a simplistic formulation, wouldn't you say?
I think that there is an intersection between politics and religion
that is nothing short of gruesome. Of late, the contagion that
results from that intersection has damaged both religion and politics.
As a Christian, I am deeply annoyed at the loudest brand of
Christianity that is out there these days, the kind that festers in
places like Colorado Springs.
As an American, I am highly aggrieved at the ascendant brand of
Americanism that is out there these days, the kind that calls itself
"the real America".
Then again, this, too, shall pass.
