Is it just me or does anyone else see that the major reason there is an insurgency in Iraq is our (the U.S.) pressence? Everyone seems to agree that Al Qaida is provoking the sectarian violence, and that they consider the U.S., not Iraq, their enemy. If we leave, they loose most of their purpose there and maybe the insurgency goes away.

It also amazes me to hear the dimwits in the Bush administration say stuff like "The terrorists seem to recognize that they are losing in Iraq" (Rumsfeld) and "I think it has less to do with the statements we've made (in his statement three years ago that "we will be greeted as liberators" and his assertion 10 months ago that the insurgency was in its "last throes."), which I think were basically accurate and reflect reality, than it does with the fact that there's a constant sort of perception, if you will, that's created because what's newsworthy is the car bomb in Baghdad,"

Fortunately even such conservative icons as William F. Buckley Jr. and George Will have declared the invasion a belly up failure so hopefully it won't be too long before enough rats jump the ship and we can start bringing our kids home.
