Anime is a bastardized loan word from english. (I'd provide a link but 
Wiki seems to be down) Originally is was the Japanese trying to say 
animation and naturally becoming simplified. Considering that there is 
some convergence, the term is currently broadening a bit. There is 
quite a bit of pseudo/copycat-anime being produced here and in 
France....well then there is Korea......
Style is not static by any means.


I don't myself use "anime" interchangeably when discussing other 
forms, but was writing a quickie and mentioning options.
