At the risk of shocking the more tenderminded persons in the audience, I must confess that my chosen "window manager" is ratpoison. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratpoison When I need a program that doesn't quite fit the ratpoison paradigm, I switch over to fluxbox.
