I'm a Catholic Presbyterian elder, just reinstalled on the Session that runs the church, and I first heard about the "frozen chosen" at the Presbyterian church. The "chosen" comes from Calvin's ideas about the elect....although few Presbyterians now believe in double predestination. Frozen comes from the tendency toward being a bit schoolmarmish. It's both painful and funny to watch the combination of African worship leaders and a Presbyterian congregation as the former tries to lead the latter in singing and dancing.
