For those who might relate . . .
BabyFirstTV, a new channel featuring
programming aimed at, um, babies, has debuted.
Because "Teletubbies" wasn't lame enough.
It's lame, it's freaky, and my daughter loves it. It has the virtue
of not being as annoying (to me, anyway) as a certain purple dinosaur.
On the doors of the kids' rooms in the pediatric oncology floor of
Stanford Children's Hospital, signs saying "Tarrant is RSV Negative" or
"McKenzie is CMV Negative", indicate that the child has not been exposed
to a certain virus, and that their parents prefer that they remain so.
On Kevin's door was a sign that read "Kevin is Barney Negative",
indicating that he had not been exposed to a certain purple dinosaur and
his parents preferred that he remained so.
On a business trip in the mid-90s, I happened to notice that the guy in
the seat in front of me on the plane was editing a script for the Barney
show. I had shoelace, I am a reasonably strong guy and I've seen enough
spy movies to have an idea how it's done: I could have ended it all right
there, but I wimped out.
The fallout might have been a bit much. :)
I like the "Barney Negative" sign.
Tommy has had some accidental exposure, but he's mostly OK. Sam has
managed to avoid it entirely, and Catherine I'm not sure about.
(Tommy's exposure is less than 2 hours total, and there's been a LOT
more Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers and Teletubbies than 2 hours each.)
