Wow,
Get in the way-back machine, Mr Peabody.
This explains why your name has been ringing tiny little Pavlov bells
for some time.
As I recall you were working for Tim Bajarin along with John Sculleys'
son{?}, or something.
Working with Tim (he was my strategic partner in Multimedia Computing
Corp.) and Jack Sculley was my first employee.
Yeah, I did the interface on Bob Abel's project. That was a real
ground breaker. The first real PIP computer interface that showed
creative and educational promise. Held together with the software
equiv of bobby-pins and hairspray.
Believe me, I remember. Do you remember the demo at Apple's first
Multimedia Developer Conference at the Fairmont in San Jose, late
1988? It was, uh, interesting, just helping to get it going.
In fact, I introduced Bob & Allen to Morgan and count that as my first
lost chance to make serious money. Morgan did well and moved back to
New Orleans just in time to build a house for Katrina to destroy. He's
OK and as cheerily up-beat as ever. I miss his lumpy grin and way of
turning lemons into lemonade.
I liked Morgan, too... and have had plenty of missed-money
experiences. Took Marc Andreesen to lunch to pitch an idea, not
knowing he was in the midst of creating what became Netscape. At
Verity, tried to buy a little company called Architext for $10
million. They took VC money from Kleiner Perkins instead and became
Excite. Those five guys made hundreds of millions.
I'm very happy and optimistic about my Liveworld options...
I'm swinging through San Jose this Sunday evening after a biz meeting
in Benicia... care for a bite & a beer? Call my social secretary,
415-305-7699.
Your social secretary? If that's not you, we're in different worlds... ;-)
We live in Santa Clara and Sunday looks good for me.
