Your lack of imagination is unsurprising.

Recently, a cat baiting exercise near my old house resulted in the poisoning of many pet and stray cats. Including all three of mine. This was done for "pest control" reasons by some locals.

3 months later, there is a serious rat and cockroach problem in the area.
