I don't know who's put the snow hex on Colorado, but _please_ stop! We had a big storm before Christmas; I didn't get out until the 24th because they had to get a front-end loader (?) to clear that 3-4 ft of snow from the mile-plus drive to the county road. A neighbor's Jeep plow got stuck trying to clear a path; I snowshoed packing ~40# of tire-chain for that (we did get it moved enough for other equipment to get through the gate). It was actually sort of fun, with chili afterwards and bragging rights.
I did finally get to Tucson, and had a very nice family Christmas. But the drive home was hellacious. A friend called to say that another big storm was coming in, so I left the next day (Thursday pre-New Year). I thought I'd beat the storm to Raton, but it had split, with one arm north of Raton Pass, and the road from the pass to Pueblo was really bad. From Colorado Springs to Denver was pure misery - I finally quit white-knuckling 'cause I just couldn't muster any more adrenaline. Ugh. Turned out the Gov. had declared a state of emergency: there I was, crawling at idle speed behind a line of trucks turtling up Monument Hill; I'm still surprised that my car (front wheel drive only, and just all-weathers, not snow tires) made it to Littleton (where I had to stay with friends for several days because the road to my place was impassable). I just got out today (barely! Had to get a tow up the iced hill from neighbors!) from _last_ Friday's big bad (once again requiring heavy equipment to smash through 4 ft drifts across much of that mile+)...now we've got yet another arctic front hurtling down, and I'm going to buy milk and bread etc. before I head home. That's four major storms in as many weeks... So now I'm going to try to get through some email, but I doubt I'll get _three_ weeks worth cleared today. Debbi who hasn't been able to ride for over 3 weeks, and is going through serious withdrawal >:P ____________________________________________________________________________________ Want to start your own business?
