Generally, I find that Spong is better at explaining what he's _against_ in Christianity than what he's for (I like Marcus Borg for that), but his explanation of the vehemence of Paul's writings against homosexuality. Quite enlightening, but must be viewed through the lens of "scripture as a human product" rather than "scripture as a divine product". Doing so marks one as a lefty Christian.
