if we want to ban cars and adopt bikes to
"save the planet", then we must calculate
the extra consumption due to human labour.
How much biofuel does a human being
consume, when we compare to a car?

bicycles can be very costly if you purchase
one with a titanium frame such as:
http://gandini.unm.edu/PGpages/Interests/bicycling.htm

or you can buy a cheap cruiser with or w/o gears:

i have had many bikes stolen over the years
so my next purchase will be from craigslist.

i am sure a car does not compare favorably
to a human powered bicycle. humans (at least
in america) already consume far more than
they need to survive.
