The Ottoman Empire was Evil, but Turkey was a new good thing that came from the ashes of the Empire, as one of its split parts.
If this genocide could be labeled as "the Genocide of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire" instead of "the Genocide of Armenians by the Turks", maybe it would be easier to accept it. BTW, I don't think italians would object to "the Genocide of Carthage by the Roman Republic", or the USA to "the Genocide of Native Americans by the English-Controlled 13 Colonies".
