Disch was the toastmaster at an early ConQuest (an annual Kansas City
SciFi convention), and actually signed toasters.

If you ever get a chance to read his non-fiction _The Dreams Our Stuff
Is Made Of_, definitely read it. It's an easygoing analysis of
science fiction from the days of the Coyote stories through it's date
of publication. You may not agree with all of his ideas, but you'll
certainly enjoy the ride.

He will be missed.
