I have to agree, Bruce. I've run for local office eight times and never come close. I would have to raise at least $100,000 for a job that pays $700-$900 a month. Bobby Shriver will probably raise close to half a mil this time. The incumbents have already received the endorsement of city employees, after they approved their raise, in advance of the election... I wasn't even interviewed.
