I'll jump in on this one.  I think former New Mexico attorney general
Patricia Madrid would be great as a VP (and not a bad choice for our
next US attorney general).  The last rumor I heard is that she's
planning to run for New Mexico Governer in 2010.  And since she wasn't
picked this time, that kind of experience, assuming she handles it as
well as she did her work as AG, would certainly make her a good VP or
even Presidential candidate in another 8 years (assuming Obama wins).
Being governer worked for Bill...

There's always Janet Napolitano, Arizona governer.  A few years ago,
Time magazine called her one of the five best governers in the US.
She's also the former Arizona attorney general, and her big issues
include education, health care, and immigration.

The darkhorse would be California congresswoman Grace Napolitano (no
relation to Janet of which I am aware).  She has been particularly
active in transportation, natural resources, and mental health issues
