Before 7 this morning the power went off and stayed off for 1.5-2
hours because of the weather. As usual, the NOAA radio was of little
use because its information is so general, and pre-recorded as
well. And as of just over 7 hours earlier, the TV band on the radio
had become forever useless. So people around here who rely on the
latter to get up-to-the-minute weather information for their specific
location by listening to the audio of one of the local TV stations
which has its weather guy doing wall-to-wall storm-tracking reports
when the power is off and therefore the TV [and computer, for those
who have one at home] is dark were Sadly Out of Luck. Fortunately
AFAICT _this_ time it was only a thunderstorm and didn't spawn any tornadoes.
Anyone know if someone is planning to market TV-band
[battery-operated, of course] radios that will pick up the audio from
the new stations, and if so, when they will be available?
. . . ronn! :)
