We've been using our family MediaWiki site for this purpose (among many others). I was actually thinking of suggesting this before you even asked -- it seems to me that memorial web sites (especially the collaborative type) really do much better at helping to preserve someone's memory than any other form of memorial I've come across, and I don't know why they aren't more popular. There are plug-ins to do video and other things; let me know if you need pointers.
