Martha Stewart gets 5 months jail, 5 months home confinement, and a $30K fine.
So what do you guys think: too light? too harsh? Is Martha a poor
victim of John Ashcroft's America? (I have a friend here who is trying
very hard to find a way to blame Bush for Martha's predicament).

I was thinking the sentence was pretty fair (it could have been much
harsher - up to 2 years jail time), but had some sympathy for her
until I saw her "defiant" statement implying her insider trading and
lying to investigators was a "small personal matter" and that she was
unfairly and "shamefully" singled out for persecution. Bah. If she
had just told the truth to the investigators, she would have probably
just gotten a fine and this would have blown over long ago. She
brought this on herself.
