No, open source is a mistake, as I've been pointing out for years.

Proprietary software isn't blasphemy (well, not to me, but I've worked
for monks), but it is self-defeating to get involved with it.

More interestingly (probably), I could talk about the XML/XSL perl
stuff I use or some of the problems of connecting older protocols like
Z39.50 and OAI-PMH up to the modern XML and HTTP world, to see if the
gurus have new takes on them.  Maybe later.

But I'm quite happy to hear about the works of others, too,
