You entirely right in the points you make, it is stagnant and there are a few companies in the deeper reaches of the SW who try to get away with very low salaries. Good roles do come up but get filled very quickly, an example is a Perl position in Bristol we recruited into just before Christmas. We were instructed by the client and had placed the candidate within 2 weeks.
